Cloth

cloth is a collaborative personal video art piece created by Samira Mahboub, Ania Catherine, and Jacqui J. Sze.

This short film seeks to start a conversation about empowerment and oppression by asking the question, "How does freedom dress?"

A veil is just a piece of cloth, but it often takes on enormous political and social implications that can fail to take the agency of the wearer into account.

It has since impacted society with its presence in the press: published by Huffington Post, LSE Engenderings, and ilReferendum. It was also screened at SOAS, London, 2014.
